It is past midnight in Cupertino and San Francisco, the respective main homes for both Adobe and Macromedia. This has me in a rather reflective mood because this marks a new chapter on number fronts for Macromedia technology as the merger or absorption process of Macromedia into Adobe begins today. I was initially very excited about the prospects of the merger and believe that I still am, but wanted express a few concerns that I have and my personal views of what will make this merger a success. (This list will grow over time, but due to time constraints this is my initial thoughts)

FLASH PLATFORM
Desired Outcome:
- Flex 2 completely dominates the Rich Internet Application landscape in terms of market share, raw power and speed, design elegance, integration with other middleware platforms, and marginalizes MS Sparkle
- With Adobe’s market cap and resources they make the Flex Builder as pervasive as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, or Flash (blantant ownership of market share)
- Designers will have an incredible ways to be involved with Flex to assist programmers with their designs in Flex. It would great if design firms across the country were designing for both Flex and Flash, and not Sparkle.
- Amazing workflows between Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop/ImageReady, and Flex Builder that are realized for both designers and programmers.
